Judd is a serial entrepreneur who is trying to allow humans to think better and be better versions of themselves. He started AE as a bootstrapped alternative to VC funding—hoping eventually to build an agency-increasing brain-computer interface operating system. Or, at least, to draw sufficient attention to the importance of designing technology focused on increasing human agency that, when someone inevitably designs a ubiquitous BCI OS, it doesn't resemble a dystopian future novel. That long-term quest is his ultimate goal with AE Studio, née Agency Enterprise—that AE tries its best to work on products and services that increase human agency. He's optimistic about the future of humanity and he invites you to play a role in creating it with him.

Diogo de Lucena

Chief Scientist

Research scientist with 9+ years of experience developing (soft-)robotic systems for rehabilitation after stroke and spinal cord injury In his PhD at UC Irvine and postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard, Diogo led interdisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and clinicians to develop systems (including intuitive user interface, embedded firmware, hardware/software integration, and data processing pipelines) to advance the science and technology of on-demand rehabilitation. Previously, he worked in the automotive industry developing engine control algorithms and test automation software for Renault and Volvo. He has a passion for the intersection of engineering, neuroscience, and data science applied to real-world solutions that can help people (re)gain independence and agency.

Steve Caldwell

Chief Operating Officer

Passionate product leader and serial startup operator. 3x founder, 1x exit. Steve has developed, launched, and invested in several high profile blockchain and AI projects, including an NFT marketplace for live music fans and an IPFS sync utility for Metamask Snaps. He's an amateur music producer and artist, dad of 3, and has been building products on the web since 1999.

Machine learning engineer with 7+ years of experience in web development, web3 technologies, data mining, and decentralized computing for machine learning applications.
